Wheels for Storage and Workshop Containers

Storage and workshop containers tend to end up in the wrong place: blocking a yard, too far from where the work happens, or in the way of a new building. Emptying a container and hiring a crane or truck just to move it a few metres is a waste of time and money. Our container wheels lock into the ISO corner castings, so you can move the container with its contents still inside.

How much can stay inside?

An empty 20 ft container weighs about 2,200 kg and an empty 40 ft about 3,750 kg. The rest of the wheel set’s capacity is available for tools, racking, spare parts or machines. Based on typical tare weights:

Why move storage containers on wheels?

  • No unloading. Move the container with tools and stock still inside.
  • Rearrange your yard. Free up space for deliveries, parking or new buildings.
  • Bring the workshop to the job. Roll a workshop container closer to where the work is.
  • Reusable. One set of wheels can move every container on site.

Before you move a loaded container

  • Estimate the weight of the contents, or weigh the container.
  • Secure racking, shelves and heavy items so nothing shifts during the move.
  • Spread heavy items over the floor instead of stacking them at one end.
  • Check the route for soft ground and obstacles, move slowly and set the brakes once in position.

Frequently asked questions

Can I move a loaded storage container?

Yes, as long as the container plus contents stays within the dynamic load capacity of the wheel set. A 20 ft container can hold about 3,200 kg of contents on the Compact set, or about 11,300 kg on the Pro.

Which wheels do I need for a 40 ft workshop container?

With up to about 1,650 kg of contents the Compact is enough. With heavier tools or machines, choose the Pro or Pro SL (up to about 9,750 kg of contents) or the Xtreme for very heavy loads.

Do I need to weld anything to the container?

No. The wheels lock into the standard ISO 1161 corner castings without welding or special tools, and come off again after the move.
