Container Wheels by Application
Shipping containers are no longer just boxes for cargo. They house batteries, generators, offices, workshops and data centres, and all of them need to move at some point. The right container wheels depend mostly on one thing: the total weight. This page shows typical weights per application and the wheel set that fits.
Typical weights and the right wheel set
| Application | Typical total weight | Wheel set |
|---|---|---|
| Site office and welfare containers | From about 1,850 kg (20 ft cabin) | Compact, sometimes Pro for 40 ft |
| Storage and workshop containers | 2,200 kg (empty 20 ft) plus contents | Compact or Pro, depending on contents |
| Exhibition and event containers | Usually close to empty weight | Compact |
| Generator (genset) containers | About 10 to 15 t (20 ft), 18 to 25 t (40 ft) | Pro, Pro SL or Xtreme |
| Battery energy storage (BESS) containers | About 24 to 35 t when loaded | Xtreme, or custom above 30,000 kg |
| Data centre and technology containers | Depends on equipment | Check with the selector |
Weights are typical ranges. Always use the weight from your own data sheet or CSC plate, and enter it in the container wheel selector for an instant load check.
